Thai Airways International has chosen Rolls-Royce's Trent 700 engines to power seven new Airbus A330 aircraft, in a deal worth $390 million.

The deal includes a TotalCare service agreement for the aircraft, which will be delivered from 2011, says the engine manufacturer.

"Thai is a very important customer and we are delighted that they have once again demonstrated their confidence in Rolls-Royce. The combination of the Trent 700 and the TotalCare support package will deliver to Thai significant reliability and performance benefits to enhance their operation," says Nick Devall, Rolls-Royce executive VP customer business - civil aerospace.

The Star Alliance carrier already operates eight Trent 700-powered A330s, says Rolls-Royce.

"The Trent 700 has again proven to be the best economic and environmental solution for our A330 fleet. We have had a long and successful partnership with Rolls-Royce and this latest selection will further strengthen our relationship," says Thai's managing director, technical department, Montree Jumrieng.
