Maintenance, repair and overhaul firm ST Aerospace has received a business licence from Chinese authorities to establish an aircraft repair facility in Guangzhou.

On 20 July 2010, ST Aero formed a joint venture with airport operator Guangdong Airport Management Corporation to set up a heavy maintenance facility at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. ST Aero owns a 49% stake in the company, called ST Aerospace (Guangzhou) Aviation Services, while the airport operator holds the remaining 51%.

The Administration of Industry and Commerce of the Guangzhou Municipality has granted the business licence for the joint venture, says the MRO firm.

The joint venture will have a total paid up capital of $99 million, and is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2013. It will perform commercial aircraft MRO services on Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft, it adds.
