Jet Airways revealed as customer for six ATR 72-500s

Jet Airways has emerged as the unidentified customer for an ATR 72-500 order that was firmed during the first half of this year.

ATR unveiled 42 firm orders over the period, including 12 ATR 72-500s and 30 ATR 72-600s, and another 30 ATR 72 options.

The manufacturer has already identified customers for 36 of these firm aircraft: Golden Air, Lao Airlines, Syrian Arab Airlines, Azul and Air Lease Corporation.

But it has not disclosed the client for the other six. Sources familiar with the situation tell ATI sister publication Commercial Aviation Online that Jet is the unidentified customer.

Since the beginning of this month Jet has added four new aircraft - serial numbers 919, 920, 924 and 928 - to its fleet.

Investec International Lease arranged the financing of the first two aircraft earlier this month. These two aircraft are part of a batch of six ATR 72-500s to be delivered before year-end.
