GE Aviation and AVIC have formally signed an agreement to develop their new joint venture avionics company.

The proposed joint venture was unveiled in November 2009, and in July 2010 Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China selected the joint venture to supply avionics for the Comac C919.

GE-AVIC Avionics Systems Company Limited states it will have its Chairman and General Manger nominated by AVIC and GE, respectively. Initially, the company's location will be in the Zizhu Digital Hub Science Park in Shanghai until a permanent location is selected.

The joint venture also plans to work in securing systems and other avionics products on future aircraft, the companies explain in a statement.
