Chinese carrier Shandong Airlines is to purchase 15 Boeing 737-800 aircraft which it plans to take in batches over 2014-15.

The airline has disclosed the acquisition plan in a statement to the Shenzhen stock exchange.

Shandong Airlines says the list price of the aircraft is around $75-80 million, but says the actual transaction price "is lower".

It says it will fund the transaction through its own finances and bank loans. All 737-800 aircraft are powered by CFM International CFM56 engines.
