Located on the same level as the exhibition, the AA Congress will be a focal point of congregation for exhibitors and delegates to network and exchange knowledge and business experiences. The AA Congress program is designed to augment the value attendees can leverage at AA and its cluster of events. The AA Congress aims to feature key opinion leaders and captains of the commercial aerospace and civil aviation industry sharing their views and engaging in panel discussions. To date, confirmed keynote speakers include Andrew Herdman, Director-General of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines; Tony Tyler, Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific and Chairman-designate of the International Air Transport Association (IATA); and Norman Lo, Director-General of Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department.
Each day of the 2009 AA Congress will focus on a carefully selected theme based on research of over 160 members from the commercial aerospace and civil aviation community.
On the first day of the AA Congress (8 September 2009), the theme of the program will be Futurewatch. Presentations will identify pertinent emerging market and industry trends that centre on the ongoing and upcoming developments in China and address the challenges that airlines currently face especially in the wake of the global economic slowdown and volatile oil prices. Delegates will be able to understand the business opportunities in China and learn how the changing macro-economic environment will change the traditional way airlines operate and therefore the business model of airline economics as currently known.
On the second day (9 September 2009), the AA Congress program will look into the theme of Engine Technologies. How are engine manufacturers adopting new technologies and innovations to solve perennial problems of emission, propulsion, noise reduction (including in cabin interiors) and performance enhancement to reduce fuel-burn? What will the engine of tomorrow look like? Will alternative fuels play a role? What are the technological needs of emerging engine manufacturers in China? How can technologies be transferred in a compliant manner? These are some of the issues that will be covered in the presentations during the second day of the AA Congress. We are proud to be associated with CFM as the lead engine sponsor for the Engine Technologies program at AA Congress 2009.
On the third day (10 September 2009), the theme for the AA Congress program will be Infrastructure. Topics covered will deal with issues relating to the problems of air congestion in Asian airports and what is being explored as possible solutions. Other issues include the changing regulatory landscape that governs or affects how airlines and airports currently operate. There will be a session to delve into the role played by MRO suppliers in ensuring minimal downtime of aircraft units and quality checks to achieve airworthiness and air safety.
